Storm Kings drummer Bobby Frank began playing drums when he
was 7 years old. Like every other drummer in the world, he began by
banging on pots and pans in the kitchen, mostly because it was an
easy way to annoy his older brother.  After much pleading, he got his
first snare drum when he was 8, and hasn’t put down the sticks since.

Bobby signed his first record contract when he was only 11 years old.
It was with Columbia House Records and he got 8 albums for just one penny.  Though he had to buy 4 more at ridiculously inflated prices, luckily, it turned out that one of those albums was the legendary Miles Davis record Kind of Blue.  Since the day that album arrived, he’s been a huge jazz fan.

Over the last 30 years, Bobby has played all kinds of music.  He’s a Drummer’s Collective grad and loves straight ahead jazz, bebop, Afro-Cuban, classic rock and some alternative rock, too.  To him, it’s all about time and groove, especially now that at 41, he’s realized that there are so many other guys out there with chops that put his to shame.  Today with iTunes, it seems that a second record contract is unlikely so Bobby is thrilled to playing great music around town with no stings attached.
